VelociPrints (think velocity + prints) is an annual art show emphasizing the works of artists from around Tucson who are inspired by the freedom and fun of two-wheeled mobility. The 4th annual VelociPrints art show will take place this Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Mercado San Agustín, 100 S. Avenida del Convento and will benefit the Living Streets Alliance.
To celebrate the event, Living Streets Alliance will host a Tweed-inspired costume bicycle ride leaving from the University of Arizona’s Old Main building around 5:00 p.m. and taking a meandering, casual-paced ride to the west side. Participants are encouraged to dress up in tweed, evoking the historic images of early bicycle riding men and women.
The event is also an opportunity to collect cans or jars of donated food which will be delivered to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. The Food Bank specifically requests jars of peanut butter. Everyone who brings an item for donation will receive a commemorative bike pin.
At the VelociPrints show there will be entertainment by Tucson’s best DJ, Herm Gúzman, beer, wine and other refreshments from Borderlands Brewing Company and Blu a Wine & Cheese Stop, plus 10% of all sales at Transit Cycles that evening will be donated to Living Streets Alliance. A portion of all sales of Borderlands beer will be donated to LSA as well.
LSA will be there with an information table and member check-in as well as t-shirts, water bottles and other items for sale. All proceeds from Cyclovia artwork will go to LSA directly while a portion of sales from the VelociPrints show will also benefit LSA.
This event was featured in the Tucson Weekly’s City Week which you can read here.
