September 8 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
What’s a Pre-Enactment? Join Living Streets Alliance (LSA), the Tucson Bicycle and Pedestrian Program (and City of Tucson Department of Transportation), students from UA College of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture and local businesses to find out!
Later in October, we’ll temporarily and rapidly transform the intersection of North 6th Avenue and East 7th Street, to be more people-centered and aesthetically vibrant.
The project, made possible in part with funding from the AARP Livable Communities, will create a vibrant public place and enhance the mobility of everyone using the area. The project may include colorful painted crosswalks, vertical posts and painted curb bulb-outs to narrow the distance people have to traverse on foot, murals on buildings and streets, and planters with shade trees and native plants.
This project will result in a radical transformation of this intersection BUT FIRST we need your ideas!
Drop in to Exo Roast on Saturday, September 8th, between 9 and 11am and take part in three guided activities that will:
1. Help us collect data, including anecdotal observations, on how the space is currently used (tell us what’s working well, and what’s not)
2. Explore possible solutions and elicit feedback on the aesthetics of a proposal for the project
3. Brainstorm how we will activate the new public space that will be created as a result of this project.
What we need: YOU! Prior interest or history with this intersection is not mandatory. All ages and bodies of all abilities are encouraged to attend!
What you’ll need: A sunhat or umbrella and a water bottle. Snacks and coffee will be provided outside by AARP.
Time: Saturday, September 8th
Meet at Exo at 403 N 6th Ave.
