People Are Experts in Their Own Lives:
A Snapshot of Our Summer Engagement Events
This summer, we spent time in the community talking with people about how easy—or not—it is to get around. Whether walking, biking, or using public transportation, access to reliable and safe options came up again and again as a key part of daily life and overall health.
In partnership with the Pima County Health Department’s REACH program, we listened to what people shared across seven different neighborhoods and communities. We pulled together a snapshot of current conditions, challenges, and ideas for improving access and mobility. The resulting analysis reflects what we heard and highlights where change is both needed and possible—all centered on people’s daily experiences.

Meet Our 2025-2026 Intern
|
|
Join us in welcoming our new intern, Linus Friedman! Linus will be supporting LSA in advocacy, data collection and mapping.
Linus (he/him) is a senior undergraduate student in the Sustainable Built Environments program at the University of Arizona, focusing on urban planning. As part of his second major, German Studies, he was able to live abroad in Germany for a year, studying European city planning and design principles, which he hopes to bring back to the work he does in the US. Growing up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, he is acutely aware of transportation constraints caused by the single-family zoning and sprawl of American development. He hopes to create spaces that uplift people and communities, no matter their form of transportation.

EXO Roast Co.
Each month we highlight a community partner or supporter who helps make this work possible. This month, we're celebrating our neighborhood coffeeshop, Exo Roast Co. Doug and Amy Smith have been long-time supporters of LSA, from donating coffee to our events and volunteers, to participating in neighborhood pop-up projects, to providing a long-cherished LSA meeting and working space. We're excited to see the legacy of Exo continue under new owners Clay Koweek and Mollie Silva, and we'll see you all there, over shrubs and mesquite lattes!
