Hi! I’m Patricia Schwartz, LSA’s Open Streets Coordinator

Patricia has years of experience working on community-driven social and environmental justice projects throughout southern Arizona, as well as in Mexico and Guatemala. With a Master's degree in Geography from the University of Arizona, their recent work has focused on improving the accessibility of urban adaptation initiatives, specializing in green infrastructure and rainwater harvesting. Recognizing how inequities are reinforced in our built environments, Patricia advocates for a more livable Tucson for all through place-based and transformative visioning. They enjoy telling human stories, producing audio podcasts and using participatory research methods to promote collaborative conversations.
Patricia was born and raised in the Sonoran Desert and currently serves on the City of Tucson Planning Commission. They try to get outdoors as much as possible and particularly love backpacking, cycling, dancing and eating raspados.
Patricia tiene años trabajando en proyectos de base promoviendo la justicia ambiental y social en el sur de Arizona, México y Guatemala. Con su Maestría en Geografía de la Universidad de Arizona, su trabajo reciente se ha enfocado en la accesibilidad de las iniciativas de adaptación urbana, especializándose en la infraestructura verde y cosecha de agua de lluvia. Con una conciencia de cómo se refuerzan las desigualdades en nuestro medio urbanizado, Patricia promueve una ciudad más vivible para todos a través de una visualización transformadora y basada en el lugar.
Elle disfruta contando historias humanas, produciendo podcasts y utilizando métodos de investigación participativa para estimular conversaciones colaborativas. Patricia nació y se crió en el desierto de Sonora y sirve en la Comisión de Planificación de Tucson. Intenta salir al aire libre tanto como sea posible y le encanta hacer senderismo, andar en bicicleta, bailar y comer raspados.
